Study on the Clinical Significance of the Biophysical Profile

Abstract
Ultrasonography was done on high risk pregnancies between 28 and 43 gestational weeks as an antenatal fetal well being assessment based on the fetal BPS at the Department of obstetrics and Gynecology, Seoul Red Cross hospital, from Mar, 1, 1991
to
December 31, 1991.
One component of the biophysical profile is the nonstress test. The other foan components are fetal parameters observed with real-fime ultrasonography:
fetal breathing movements, fetal movements, fetal tone, and amniotic fluid volume.
Measures of outcome checked respiratory distress syndrome, fetal distress in labor, low 5 minute Apgar score, and birth weight small for gestational age.
Results indicate that this method can be used affectively to screen and manage a high risk population
